The Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society Fall Festival will kick off on Sunday, running all day and the featuring a tour of the 1888 Fitz-Greene Hallock Homestead, Museum Annex and grounds, antique car show, plus raffles, food and auctions.
The Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society’s is a local organization who’s mission is to celebrate and preserve the rich history of our Lake Ronkonkoma area. They operate two museums for locals to explore and learn about local history: The Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society Museum founded in 1976 which is housed in what was once the Lake Ronkonkoma Free Library, and the Fitz-Greene Hallock Homestead which is a 14-room Victorian home complete with all the original Hallock family furnishings. The Historical Society offers various tours and programs throughout the year and all of this is available just a mile away from your Alston apartment.
Donated in 1995 by the last surviving family member, the Fitz-Green Hallock Homestead, nicknamed “The Maples” , is a Gothic Victorian home built in 1888. Most amazingly and generously, it was donated with all the original furnishings inside, making it a perfect time capsule into the life of a late 1800’s Long Island family.
Get a taste of local history, as well as some fun, food and prizes this weekend at the Fall Festival!
